“Michael Jordan was the unquestioned alpha”: Stephen A Smith wants Stephen Curry to rein in Draymond Green, cites how MJ dealt with Dennis Rodman as an example
Stephen A Smith is imploring Stephen Curry to rein in Draymond Green, on and off the court, much like Michael Jordan did with Dennis Rodman.
Dennis Rodman and Michael Jordan shared a great professional relationship. They weren’t much of friends, but there was a good dynamic between the two nevertheless. Jordan saw Rodman’s eccentric side and embraced it, and this helped the Bulls to a second threepeat.
Many people believe that Draymond Green is the modern-day equivalent of Rodman. But the two have slightly different skillsets – Draymond is an amazing passer, while Rodman is the greatest rebounder of all time.
Nevertheless, both pairs are parts of successful Big 3s, and have very similar roles individually. This comparison is, thus, quite appropriate in terms of leadership roles.
‘Stephen Curry needs to learn from Michael Jordan’: Stephen A Smith
Stephen A Smith thinks that Draymond has to be kept in line by Stephen Curry. The Warriors are undoubtedly Steph’s team, and he needs to behave more like an alpha according to the ESPN host:
“I know Draymond and Dennis Rodman aren’t exactly the same players and on the court Draymond has more diverse offensive skills. But could you imagine a final series with the Bulls up against it and Dennis Rodman about to be the MVP of the finals with a game seven performance. It wouldn’t have happened. And when Rodman took a hideout for a second in Vegas.”
“They went over this in the Last Dance. He in the room with Carmen Electra and she tells it from her point of view and Michael Jordan busts in that room. He was coming back with Dennis Rodman.”

“That is Michael Jordan as the unquestioned alpha of the team. And I do think you mentioned Steph by name, I do think that’s the difference in the dynamic of this team.”
