Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and the rest of the Philadelphia 76ers have been through some tension filled seasons causing crazy levels of stress in their fans.

The 76ers have consistently been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference for the last several years, performing well in the regular season and having some level of success in the postseason.
The Embiid-Simmons duo has had its up-and-downs, but fans can’t argue with the fact that they have been able to win together as in their four full seasons together (2017-2021), they haven’t missed the playoffs.

However, things haven’t always been easy-going for 76ers fans as a BETUS study recently revealed that the most stressed fans in the NBA may actually reside in Philly.

76ers Have The Most Stressed Fans In The NBA, Joel Embiid And Ben Simmons Drama May Be The Result
BETUS looked at over 100,000 Tweets related to the NBA and ran them through a tool called TensiStrength which determines the levels of calmness and tranquility.
The results, found here, showed that Philly fans were the most stressed at 29% of Tweets being stressful in some way with the Boston Celtics following in at a close second with 27%. Chicago Bulls fans ranked at the bottom of the study with only 16% of their Tweets indicating stress.
The cause of the stress isn’t exactly evident, but we can take a few guesses. For one, the 76ers have had a habit of following up great regular season play with disappointing finishes in the playoffs.
Take last year, for example. They finished first in the Eastern Conference, but they couldn’t make it past the fifth seeded Atlanta Hawks in the second round.
The year before, fans saw the 76ers get swept in the first round. In 2018-19, Philadelphia fans had their hearts ripped from their bodies as Kawhi Leonard nailed the infamous ‘four bounce’ game winner to beat Joel Embiid and company in seven games.

That feeling of hope can mess with fans, and to have it constantly be ripped out can be stressful. Additionally, there is still some unresolved business when it comes to Ben Simmons’ future with the team. After a terrible series against the Atlanta Hawks, in which Simmons was practically unplayable, trade rumors started to swirl around the former ROTY.
It’s never easy for fans to deal with any of their players being in trade rumors, especially not someone who was supposed to be the perfect co-star for their franchise center in Joel Embiid. The study is definitely interesting, and it shows the connectivity between fans and the league and how certain teams differ from others.
