Calling Out Rudy Gobert's $205,000,000 Contract Months Ago, Shaquille O'Neal Showcases Wolves Center's Surprising 3 At FIBA Exhibition

Shaquille O’Neal has had beef with the Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert for quite a time now. He made fun of the big money Rudy got after signing with his former team, the Utah Jazz. When the former Defensive Player of the Year signed a $205,000,000 contract, Shaq didn’t like the idea that despite performing poorly at the offensive end, Gobert received such a massive deal. But in a recent turn of events, O’Neal reposted a video of Gobert on his Instagram, story. In the video, the big man was astonishingly seen making a three-point shot from the top of the key.

Shaq has not been in support of Gobert signing a supermax extension. According to the ‘Big Diesel’, to sign a $250 million deal, a player needs to be a superstar on both ends of the floor. On the matter, he said the following, as seen in the YouTube clip by NBA on TNT.

Now when I see somebody making $250 million. I think it’s (big) and so I say he is not (big). That’s why I said hey high schoolers out there  just watch him and you could do something similar to him and better than him and you have the chance to make $250 million.”

Shaquille O’Neal posts a video of Rudy Gobert making a three-point shot

Gobert was playing in the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Standing at the top of the key he received an inbound pass. Without even thinking Rudy shot the ball and made it. Going by his history, Gobert is not a three-point threat in the NBA. He is not even considered a threat from the midrange. However, when it comes to NBA players and the kind of work they put in, outside the league, it doesn’t seem to be a big deal.

Take a look at the tweet by tragicpatek, along with the post by ESPN below.

The former NBA champion has never been a big fan of Gobert’s game. However, as evidenced by his reposting the video in question, it seems like Big Aristotle may be coming around to it. Shaq loves the game and maybe he is just happy seeing Gobert improve his. France is currently at the top of the chart in the FIBA ranking, and Gobert has been a massive reason for it.

Spice Adams says Rudy Gobert can hold Shaquille O’Neal to 12 points

Shaq is one of the greatest, if not the greatest big men to have ever stepped on an NBA court. His dominance is still narrated in the history books. Shot blocking, dunking, rebounding, and dominating the paint, O’Neal did absolutely everything in his prime years. Comparing his incredible game to Gobert’s relatively lacking one, ‘the Big Diesel’ can never quite get off his back.

After the Utah Jazz’s first-round exit in the 2022 playoffs, there was a lot of criticism from Shaq about the big man in question. However, in response to this, Comedian Spice Adams once said that Gobert could hold Shaq to just 12 points. However, Diesel, being his vintage self, said the following

I think Rudy Gobert can hold you (Shaq) to like 12-points,” said Adams

12-points, yeah, in the first 3-minutes. “It’s against my religion for somebody to hold me one-on-one. I take that personally. I do,” said O’Neal.

Of course, being a comedian and knowing the history here, it’s obvious Spice wasn’t being serious.
