Skip Bayless’ ‘Best Friend’ Lil Wayne Goes Against Him, Snubs Michael Jordan As the GOAT: “LeBron James One”

Unlike sports such as Swimming and Golf, basketball has no undisputed winner of the GOAT title. Over the NBA’s 76 years of history, there have been many players who have left the sporting world in awe of their greatness. Legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, among several others, have performed at the highest level and spread the appeal of basketball worldwide. However, only two names currently dominate the GOAT debate and have the NBA fanbase divided– Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Skip Bayless, who has a strong bias toward the Bulls legend, might not like his friend Lil Wayne’s recent opinions on the GOAT debate. The UNDISPUTED analyst has grown pretty close to the 5-time Grammy winner over the years. Apart from making appearances on the Fox Sports show, the hip-hop artist has even invited Bayless to his house on numerous instances.

With “Weezy” picking LeBron as his pick for the GOAT debate, we will have to wait and see if the Bayless-Wayne friendship suffers a hiccup.

Lil Wayne picks LeBron James over Michael Jordan

The 40-year-old artist made an appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All The Smoke podcast recently. While the entire episode will be released later, a clip of the same was released on the Showtime Basketball Twitter account, which is now gaining traction on the Internet.

In the clip, Jackson asked Wayne to rank Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James in order. After ranking LeBron as #1, MJ as #2, and Kobe as #3, the popular rapper spoke about his love for His Airness.

“I love Jordan for the way he f**king always won. As a kid, you don’t know too much about the ins and outs and all the other sh*t that we love now in the game that I’m old enough to care about. So I just, ‘who won?’ That’s my favorite player, he better win. He always f**king win, that’s all I know. I got old enough to know how hard it is to f**king do it back to back to back. That’s where he gains his respect to where he’s the greatest. It’s very hard to do.”

However, Lil Wayne eventually tipped his hat to the King. Later in the video, the ‘3 Peat’ star explained how winning championships with 3 different teams gives James the edge over Jordan in his list.

“Bron one, Mike and then Kobe…That n***a Bron done did that s**t with three teams. That’s when I was like regardless if he ain’t got six, but darn he done it with three different teams and not on one of those motherf**king teams did he play part two or role two.”

Wayne isn’t wrong here. Winning championships with 3 different teams is an exceptional feat. And LBJ even won all the Finals MVPs during all 4 of those championship runs. Whereas, despite winning 6 championships, MJ is often criticized for not lifting the title without Scottie Pippen’s help.

How will Skip Bayless react to Lil Wayne’s comments?

On numerous occasions, Bayless has expressed his almost obsessive bias toward Michael Jordan, mostly at the expense of LeBron James. Infamously known for hating on LeBron James, the analyst has been raving about Jordan since the beginning of his career in the media industry.

In fact, Bayless has even had some heated arguments with his soon-to-be-former co-host Shannon Sharpe on the same topic. Whenever the NFL legend picked Bron to be the GOAT, Bayless would end up directing rather nasty remarks toward Sharpe.

Knowing him, the Lil Wayne comment is certainly going to be a topic that Bayless addresses on tomorrow’s episode of UNDISPUTED. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not he rips apart his dear friend for his hot take, as he has done to so many others in the past.
