“Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time”: Damian Lillard crowns Warriors MVP as ‘GOAT’ shooter
Damian Lillard says that Steph Curry is the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA, also puts himself in that category of ‘GOAT’ shooters.
The NBA has had its fair share of knock down shooters, dating all the way back to the 80s. Guys like Larry Bird made themselves be known as a threat from mid-range and beyond the arc on a regular, causing defenses to extend towards the 3-point line ever so slightly.
In the 90s, players such as Reggie Miller, Steve Kerr, Drazen Petrovic, amongst others, carried this same effect on defenses. However, no player in the history of this league has had as profound of an effect on defensive spacing than Steph Curry.

Curry ‘splashed’ onto the scene and the NBA hasn’t been the same. His ability to drain shots from 28+ feet with ease, coupled with a quick release, took the NBA by storm. It has warranted the rise of players such as Trae Young and Damian Lillard.
Damian Lillard gives Steph Curry his props on being the greatest shooter ever.
The debate surrounding who the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA was as active as ever back when Curry was racking up MVPs and destroying 3-point shooting records. Fast-forward to today and it’s no question that the Davidson alum resides solely, in the uppermost echelon of NBA shooting greats.
He is less than 400 3-pointers away from surpassing Ray Allen in most shots made from beyond the arc; a record which Steph will break with ease. Damian Lillard recognizes Curry’s greatness and gives the Warriors MVP his props for starting the 3-point revolution.
“I think Steph is the greatest shooter of all time. But I think when it comes to that deep ball, I’m as good as anybody.”
There’s a reason as to why Damian Lillard has been nicknamed Logo Lillard by the NBA themselves. He’s necessitated defenses to double team him as soon as he crosses the half-court line. Dame has made himself a threat from 35+ feet and if left open from that range, will let it fly.
Though Steph may be the greatest shooter of all time, even Curry fans can admit that Steph wasn’t letting it fly on the regular from the ranges that Damian Lillard operates in.
