On Monday night, Stephen Curry and his Warriors were hosted by a Joel Embiid-led Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. Entering the game, Philly had a four-game winning streak and clearly were the favorites to beat GSW.
The Warriors, who also entered the game with four wins in five matches, managed to stun the number one team of the Eastern Conference. In an incredible duel between Steph and Embiid, it was the Warriors who won the match 107-96.
Despite having a poor first six minutes – 0 points and 3 turnovers, it was yet another Stephen show leading his team for the win. The 2-time MVP finished the game with 49 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds while knocking down 10 three-pointers.
Curry, who has been having a terrific couple of months, managed to leave everyone in a surprise after his performance. Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins was one of the many who complimented the Warriors superstar post his win. Perkins referred to Curry’s games as “beyond legendary”. Perkins took it to Twitter and lauded the 3-time champ:
“Hey @StephenCurry30 anything that I’ve ever said negative about you I apologize Sir! What you are doing on the court and the game of basketball is beyond LEGENDARY!!! Another 49 piece spicy with the W. I was just jealous because you were light skin and I’m not! Carry the hell on.”
“Nobody in the history of the game has ever done what Stephen Curry is doing”: Steve Kerr
There is no one in the league who is on a hot streak like Curry is. The 6-foot-3 sharpshooter has knocked down 72 three-pointers in the past 10 games, the most in NBA history.
He has also been averaging 40.8 points while having a shooting splits of 55/50/91% in the last ten games. He continues to go on an absolutely crazy scoring run, making this game his 11th straight game with 30+ points.
The “Baby Faced Assasin” could potentially join the likes of all-time greats Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor and James Harden as the only fifth player to average 40 points in a game.
Post the match, the Warriors head coach spoke about his MVP, saying how Curry has been doing things that have never been done before. Kerr commended Steph:
“There’s something beautiful about it. It really is an art. What he’s doing is amazing to watch. Nobody in the history of this game has ever done what he’s doing right now. And I’m talking the full gamut of shooting off the dribble, off the screen, running around like a madman when he’s off the ball.”
