"Steve Kerr is running a calculus offense with pre-algebra players": Kevin O'Connor wants Warriors to run more pick-and-rolls with Steph Curry

After the Warriors’ blowout loss to the Blazers last night, Kevin O’Connor said Steve Kerr needs to push Steph Curry into more pick-and-rolls.

The Blazers rained 3-pointers on the hapless Warriors defense, going 20-of-43 from downtown as a team. Lillard made 6 of his 10 3-pointers, while Melo and McCollum added 7 more together. The Warriors were pinned on the back foot right from the start of the game.

The Warriors attempted a speedy comeback in the second quarter. But they could reduce the 15-point deficit only to 12 by halftime. From there on out, the Blazers held on placidly to record a 123-98 win.

The Warriors’ offense was stagnant once more. Rookie James Wiseman only had 8 points on the night. Oubre continued his pathetic shooting from downtown with an 0-4 outing. The offense really looked out of place given the players the Warriors have on their roster.

Kevin O’Connor believes Steve Kerr needs to change his offense

Remonstrating at the Warriors’ ineffectiveness, The Ringer’s prize writer Kevin O’Connor criticized Kerr for not adapting his tactics to his roster:

“The best coaches adapt the system to best maximize the talents of the players. Steve Kerr has done none of that with these Warriors. Zero. Kerr must change things soon or this will get uglier. Start by running more pick-and-roll with Curry and Wiseman. Keep it simple.”

If the Warriors are unable to sort their offense, they look set to succumb to another season with no playoffs. Kerr definitely needs to switch things up on offense to take his team to the postseason.
