"Thank The Basketball Gods Kyrie Irving Didn't Grow To Be 6'6": LeBron James' 'Homie' Raves About Mavs Guard's 42 Point Explosion

Kyrie Irving has been busy hooping across various open gyms this summer to prepare for the upcoming season. He had gotten into this habit, especially during his Brooklyn Nets days. Recently, he participated in the ‘More than A Run All-Star Classic’ closed run and amazed the fans with his abilities. The Pro-Am event saw Kyrie drop 42 points, which received praise from LeBron James’ ‘homie’.

Irving and LeBron played in the NBA for three years representing the Cleveland Cavaliers. During this tenure, the duo made it to the finals thrice and won the NBA championship in 2016. Kyrie then decided to leave the Cavaliers, owing to his personal ambitions until he recently expressed his desire to team up with LeBron again.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar had requested the franchise to pursue Iriving during the off-season but there were no high-level talks that happened. There were rumors about Irving requesting the Dallas Mavericks franchise to trade for James as well during this time. Clearly, the two players are itching to pair up again and re-kindle their Cleveland chemistry on the floor.

LeBron James’ ‘homie’ praises Kyrie Irving

With Kyrie Irving recently showing out in the Pro-Am event – ‘More than a Run’, there were a lot of folks who were reminded of the immense talent the guard possesses. The point guard showed his complete array of moves en route to his 42 points, including dunks, fade-aways, and crossovers. His highlight reel resulted in a reaction from ‘CuffsTheLegend‘ who tweeted:

“I’ll say it again: Everybody in the league should thank the Basketball Gods that Kyrie didn’t grow to be 6’6”

‘CuffsTheLegend’ has been a close friend of LeBron James, and the superstar also tweeted about him in 2016. The two have been seen interacting on Twitter quite often and continue to be in touch. Here is the tweet by LeBron seven years ago.

Kyrie undoubtedly has one of the smoothest handles in the league, and his finishing at the rim is unbelievable for a player his height. Hence, the comment by ‘CuffsTheLegend’ makes complete sense as a 6f 6inch Kyrie who be impossible to guard. With his scoring ability, he often reminds us of a shorter version of Kobe Bryant.

One can never forget when a rookie Irving, crossed over the entire Team USA during practice. This included players like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook. As part of the Team USA select team, his teammate Paul George garnered praise for the moves Kyrie displayed as a youngster.

Iman Shumpert praises Kyrie for his lay-ups

Kyrie Irving’s lay-up packages might be the most amazing highlight reel a basketball fan can watch. His former teammate, Iman Shumpert, once revealed how Kyrie practiced his difficult shots, which left everyone gobsmacked.

Kyrie played on basketball courts that had broken backboards. Some even had holes in them. To score, the NBA champion had to get crafty with his moves, as he could not do it the conventional way. He learned to adjust on the fly, switch hands, and spin the ball when required.
