"That Boy Looks Just Like Michael Jordan": 6'4 Anthony Edwards Has Former NBA Star Claiming The League Is His Now

The legend of Anthony Edwards is reaching every basketball fan now. The Minnesota Timberwolves young star, since putting on legendary #10 jersey, has been nothing short of amazing in the FIBA World Cup. He is now being compared to Michael Jordan, a phenomenon that started after his late takeover in a game against Germany. Nick Young, the former Golden State Warriors player, has now joined others on the bandwagon. He called the Ant, the Michael Jordan of this era, something that the league might need right now.

Young is not the first NBA player to compare Edwards to MJ. Even the NBA legend and four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal seems to agree with the opinion. Earlier, former Celtics player Kendrick Perkins said that the Timberberwolves star is the face of the NBA. Shaq later shared Perkins’ take alongside a post that said, “The MJ of our generation is here.”

Nick Young says Anthony Edwards is the new Michael Jordan

After the US Team lost to Lithuania in the second round, Nick Young said that the team should have given the ball to Edwards to close out the game. Moreover, he also added that he was convinced that the league belonged to the young star. He looked like MJ on the court in his 35-point game. Young said this on Edwards;

The league is about to be Anthony Edwards’. This is Anthony Edwards league now, the new MJ. That boy looks just like MJ out there. They should have gave it to Anthony Edwards. They would have never lost to Lithuania…Anthony Edwards is looking like a star.”

Interestingly, Antman and Jordan have the same playing position and even have similar playing styles. The Timberwolves star is 2 inches shorter than Jordan however his turnaround fadeaway, acrobatic shots under the rim, and explosive dunks share a lot of similarities with the GOAT.

Edwards refused to come off the bench, denying playing supporting on the US Team

Ant is already a certified alpha and that’s one of the reasons he has overshadowed Karl Anthony Towns in Minnesota. Edwards doesn’t think he is second to anyone in the league. His mindset was apparent in the offense that he took when Team USA head coach Steve Kerr suggested he come off the bench. When Kerr told the Antman about Dwyane Wade coming off the bench for Kobe Bryant, the young star retorted and said there was no Kobe on the roster.

I mean, of course I wasn’t cool with it, If that’s what it takes, I mean, I am willing to do it, but nah, I’m never cool with that. … He said Dwyane Wade came off the bench when Kobe played. I was like, all right, we don’t have a Kobe, but all right. But it was cool.”

Moreover, just after having the conversation with Kerr, Edwards went for a massive 34-point game against Germany. He also scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to give a 99-91 win to his team.
