'There is nothing that can change my mind': Stephen A Smith gives his pick in Michael Jordan vs LeBron James GOAT debate

Stephen A Smith says Michael Jordan will continue to be his GOAT in the foreseeable future because of his utter dominance.

Over the years, LeBron James has been well on the way to setting some ginormous records. He holds a ton of records as the ‘youngest player to do X’. He is now starting to rack up awards at the other end of the spectrum: ‘oldest player to do Y’.

He has made many records so indisputably his own that it is tough to imagine someone breaking half of those. However, through a 17-year-career set to finish at 20 years or later, James still falls a fair distance short of Michael Jordan on some accolades.

Jordan had 10 scoring titles in 11 full season played with the Chicago Bulls. The next highest is Wilt Chamberlain with 7. James has just 1 scoring title and one assists title.

Stephen A Smith makes compelling argument for Michael Jordan over LeBron James

On First Take with Kendrick Perkins, Stephen A revealed his unchanged stance on the GOAT debate:

“There’s nothing that’s going to change my mind. To me, Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time. I am thinking about the scoring titles of Michael Jordan, the NBA Championships of Michael Jordan, the killer instinct that was Michael Jordan.”

“When I look at LeBron, it’s no disrespect from my side. I think he is the greatest player in the game today, and I think he is the greatest in the history of basketball outside of Michael Jordan.”

MJ has 6 titles to LeBron’s 4, 6 Finals MVPs to LeBron’s 4, 9 First Team All-Defense selections to LeBron’s 6. He also has a Defensive Player of the Year trophy that James doesn’t.
