“They were writing me off”: Chris Paul takes shots at NBA media after leading Phoenix Suns to the Western Conference Finals
Chris Paul gives a heartfelt message to the media after the Phoenix Suns sweep the Denver Nuggets and progress to the Conference Finals.
It’s time Chris Paul was given the respect he deserves.
This Phoenix Suns team is a very good one without the Point God. You have Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton. High-value role-players in Jae Crowder and Cameron Payne, and many more that bring a lot to the table. However, no matter how good they are on their own, CP3 undeniably takes them to another level.
Even without Jamal Murray, the Denver Nuggets are not an easy team to beat. But, under the leadership of Paul, and Monty Williams as well, Phoenix beat them in 4 games, and will go to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2010.
The player is once again starting to prove his haters wrong, and his perception within the NBA community is of course getting more and more positive. But, during this successful time, the player took a moment out to think about the darker times in his career after the game.

“A couple of years ago, they were writing me off”: Chris Paul
The NBA community is slowly, but finally starting to give CP3 the love he has earned when it comes to all-time discussions and overall rankings. However, just a couple of seasons ago, this was far from the case.
Fans of the Rockets will remember the massive meltdown within the team after the franchise was unable to beat the Warriors. The franchise came tantalizingly close on two different occasions, but ultimately, never quite got past.
There were accusations and criticisms flying around everywhere for the franchise. But the one who had to face the brunt of it, by far, was Chris Paul.
Many believed that the player was showing signs of steep regression, despite still playing at a very high level. And after eventually being traded to OKC and now the Suns, the star has proven the ‘observations’ could not have been more inaccurate. And after reaching the Conference Finals with the Suns, he chose to speak on it in an interview. Take a look at the clip below.

“A couple of years ago, they were writing me off. This ain’t about me. It’s about us.”
Just that comment explains the Point God’s mentality perfectly. Of course, he can get his own during a game. But his greatest ability is to make those around him better. And with such an incredible roster, he and the franchise stand a real chance at winning it all this season.
