Trailing Only Oscar Robertson, Trae Young Records 113th 20-Point, 10-Assist Performance Before Turning 25

After going on a 5-game win streak in mid-January, the Atlanta Hawks suffered back-to-back losses. However, playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Trae Young and co. grabbed a much-needed win.

A topsy-turvy, high-scoring contest that witnessed 15 lead changes & 15 ties, ended with Nate McMillan’s boys coming out on top. With the Hawks’ starters combining for 111 points, the Georgia-based franchise grabbed a 137-132 victory.

OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a terrific 36/5/7 stat line. However, Young managed to eclipse SGA’s incredible outing with a historic performance of his own.

Trae Young records 2nd most 20-point, 10-assist performance before turning 25

Coming off a 21-point, 13-assist double-double, Ice Trae erupted for a 33-point, 11-assist double-double against the Thunder, shooting the ball at an incredible 50/50/91 split.

Tonight, Trae recorded the 113th 20-point, 10-assist performance of his young career. This ties him with Isiah Thomas for the 2nd-most by a player prior to turning 25. The only person the ATL guard trails – Oscar Robertson (124).

Trae turns 25 in September. Trailing by only 9 such outings, there is no doubt that the 6-foot-1 sharpshooter might surpass Robertson to end up leading the list.

“If I’m in the category with Isiah Thomas, means I’m doing something right”: Young

During the postgame interview, Trae was made aware of the feat he had just accomplished. Focusing on wins and being humble, Trae’s classy response was:

“That means I’m doing something right, if I’m in the category w/ him, a legend, a Hall of Famer, means I’m doing something right. So I just got to keep going, not pay attention to it & just let the winning & take care of everything else.”

So far, Young has been averaging 27.1 points and 9.9 assists per game.
