"Ty Lue has had some of the greatest comebacks in his coaching career": Skip Bayless heaps praises on Clippers head coach Ty Lue after Game 5 win

Skip Bayless recently tweeted about Ty Lue being the coach of the decade after the Clippers defeated the Jazz at home to take a commanding 3-2 lead.

On 20th October 2020, the LA Clippers officially announced Ty Lue as their head coach. Lue had been assisting former Clippers head coach Doc Rivers during the 2018-19 NBA season.

The Clippers have probably been one of the most unpopular franchises in the league over the few years. Their performance in the 2020 Orlando Bubble just made matters worse for them.

The LA Clippers were under immense scrutiny going into the 2020-21 NBA season. The superstar duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard had no choice but to perform well this season.

The president of Clippers’ basketball operations, Lawrence Frank had immense faith in Lue’s ability as a coach, “Ty has been where we want to go. He is a championship head coach with an extraordinary feel for the game and the people who play it.”

In his first year with the LA Clippers, Lue had a successful season with a 47-25 record as they clinched the 4th spot in the western conference.

Ty Lue has an amazing basketball coaching resume

In the 283 regular-season games he has coached so far, Lue has won 175 of those, which is a 61.83% success rate. This is followed by an extraordinary success rate of 65% in the post-season. Lue is 48-for-73 in his playoffs record.

In his first year as a head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lue was phenomenal. The Cavaliers won first of their 10 post-season matches. Lue became one of the few coaches to enter the NBA finals in his debut year.

The 2016 NBA finals will go down as one of the greatest finals in the history of the NBA. The Cavaliers after being down 3-1, made one of the biggest comebacks in American sports history and were crowned NBA champions ending their 52-year championship drought.

Lue won the 2016 ESPY award for the best coach and best team. During the 2016 NBA All-Star games, Lue was named the head coach for the east.

The Cavaliers did go on to make 2 consecutive NBA finals appearances but lost to the Golden State Warriors, who were a juggernaut at the time.

How Lue has performed as Head coach of LA Clippers 2020-21

The Clippers had a turbulent first-round against the Mavericks but managed to win the series in 7 games despite being down 0-2.

The Clippers are currently 3-2 against the Jazz in the conference semi-finals after losing the first 2 consecutive games.

Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out indefinitely due to a knee injury. However, the team still has faith in Lue’s ability to succeed in this moment of crisis.
