5 Years Before Facing Arrest on Gun Charges, Patriots' Jack Jones Had Pleaded Guilty in a Commercial Burglary Case

Jack Jones, the talented cornerback for the New England Patriots, recently made the headlines for getting involved in a gun-related controversy. As it turns out, this is not the first time he has faced legal issues, as he was previously involved in a commercial burglary case five years ago. Currently, Jones is facing charges after being arrested for reportedly attempting to bring two firearms onto a flight at Logan International Airport.

Jones’ current legal troubles are not something new. Half a decade ago, he was arrested in Santa Paula, California, for his alleged involvement in a burglary at a Panda Express restaurant. Initially, he was facing felony charges but he eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor count of commercial burglary. Jones had to serve 45 days in house arrest.

What happened at the Logan International Airport?

Back to his current debacle, as reported by BostonGlobe, Jones was scheduled to travel to Arizona when he was apparently halted at the security checkpoint in Terminal B of Logan International Airport. As it turns out, Jones was trying to bring loaded firearms onto the flight. The charges he faces are unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

These charges carry mandatory minimum sentences as per Massachusetts law. Jones was apprehended after loaded firearms were discovered in his carry-on luggage during a routine security check. According to State Police, the firearms were found on Friday during an X-ray screening at Terminal B’s security checkpoint.

Jack was immediately questioned and arrested by a state trooper at the scene. Following his arrest, Jones was booked at the State Police-Logan Airport barracks. His bail was set at $50,000. The Transportation Security Administration confirmed the discovery of the firearms without mentioning Jones by name, referring to him as a “male passenger ticketed for travel to Los Angeles International Airport.”

After calling Ja Morant dumb, Jack Jones gets arrested in a similar matter

Ironically, the New England cornerback had recently called out NBA player Ja Morant for his own gun-related issues. In an old tweet which is now going crazy viral, Jones had called Ja Morant dumb, while urging him to put down the guns and focus on his career.

In fact, Jones had even expressed his disappointment in ‘bread-winner’ Morant for being so fixated upon carrying firearms. However, Jones now finds himself in a similar situation, facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card.

Needless to say, Jones’ take on Morant will go down as one of the most ironic Tweets of all time.
