After Wreaking Havoc in Albany, Antonio Brown is coming back to football, but not with the NFL

Controversial football star Antonio Brown has yet again taken the internet world by storm by announcing his return to the gridiron while interacting with WNYT’s Rodger Wyland. And No! It’s not the NFL through which he is making his return. The seven-time Pro Bowler plans to pad up for his own arena team, Albany Empire. He will play wide receiver for the side, with the sole intention of increasing the brand value of his unit.

Ever since the players and coaching staff accused the management of not clearing their salaries, Albany Empire has been among the headlines. Moreover, the transition of power from the previous owner to Brown hasn’t been smooth which ultimately has created a lot of adversities inside the locker room. With Brown’s recent announcement, things are expected to change in the coming days.

Antonio Brown to follow the footsteps of his father

While AB’s gateways into the NFL have almost closed, his arrival on the football field for Albany marks a new beginning to his playing career. There shouldn’t be any apprehensions about his abilities, and he is sure to make some crazy plays for his team. As it turns out, the Super Bowl Champion WR has got his passion for the game from his father, Eddie Brown, who played for the Albany Firebirds, a former arena football team based in the city.

This motivated Brown to buy stakes in the Albany Empire and later include his father on the management board. Although Antonio was expected to cheer from the stands, Brown has surprised everyone with his latest announcement.

“Albany Empire Owner Antonio Brown told me he is going to suit up and play for the Empire as soon as their next home game on May 27th at MVP Arena. Brown is a seven-time NFL Pro-Bowler WR who played 10 years with the Steelers,” said WYNT’s Rodger Wyland.

Rodger mentioned that Brown wants to fill the stands with spectators. Fan attendance has been somewhere between 2500 in the last couple of matchups. With his comeback as a player, the veteran aims at attracting as many as 10,000 fans to a single game. Antonio is expected to start his journey for Albany as a player from May 27.

This might be Brown’s final chance at a successful football career

Ever since the 34-year-old WR walked off the NFL field in 2022, he has been entangled in several controversies. Innumerable cases have been filed against him where he has been accused of serious crimes like money theft, domestic battery, and a lot more. Given all this, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Brown isn’t coming back to the NFL anytime soon.

The notorious WR also tried making a career in music and other fields, but that probably hasn’t benefitted him to a great extent. It appears that the Albany stint is Antonio’s last shot at a successful football career and he needs to absolutely make the best use of it. As this is a developing story, readers can stay tuned for more updates.
