Dan Snyder Washington Commanders: How Much Will It Cost To Buy The Commanders And Will Jeff Bezos Make A Play?

The NFL has now spiraled into its most awaited part of the season. The Playoffs are in full swing, with just eight teams remaining in contention for the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy. As these eight teams look to secure a ring, come February 13, some teams have already begun their off-season. The Washington Commanders are one of them.

The Commanders ended their 2022 campaign better than many other teams. Unfortunately for them, they compete in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFC. The NFC East had 3 out of the 4 teams make it to the playoffs and all 3 of them are still dancing. At 8-8-1 the Commanders even had a better record than Tom Brady’s Bucs who ended the regular season 8-9. However, due to the divisions, the Bucs were able to make it to the playoffs, while the Commanders missed out.

As the Commanders begin their off-season, they have a lot to work on in the front office. With Carson Wentz set to leave, the Commanders have showcased trust in young Sam Howell. However, rumors have it that they are in for a veteran QB in this off-season, looking to strengthen their roster. While these may be problems they will have to cater to, the Commanders have bigger problems to look into before they get into that. Pat McAfee took to his show to discuss Dan Snyder’s sale of the team which has been quiet for a few weeks.

Washington Commanders don’t have a lot of buyers

The Commanders have been on sale and multiple theories and potential buyers’ names have come up since. With Jeff Bezos being one of the forerunners to buy the team, reports have it, he has opted out. Though he can swoop in any time, having the largest net worth amongst the list of potential buyers. However, Bezos recently acquired the Washington Post, which has been notorious for exposing secrets of the Commanders’ camp. This has made Bezos’ relationship with Snyder not very amicable and could hinder a potential transaction.

The Commanders are said to be sold come March. Josh Harris is in the lead for this role. Harris owns multiple sports entities and will be a favorite for fans. The Commanders have a lot of potential given their location in Washington. With reports suggesting they would require a new stadium, there is a lot of speculation regarding the transaction.

With the government and county involved in a part of the ownership and the team situated in one of the most expensive cities in the country, McAfee believes that’s a prominent reason for the lack of buyers. This might also force the people in charge to reduce the selling price in order to attract more bidders.

Given all of this, whoever comes in will be seeing an investment north of $6 Billion for sure. Though it is a steep amount, the returns with sports are always going to be exponential when it is the NFL.
