Neither the quarterback nor the Mahomes clan addressed this issue. And suddenly, Bates’ death added more worries to this sad situation.

Debbie Bates was an absolute charm and a fine lady. She defied the age barrier and constantly remained a source of inspiration for the entire family. Moreover, Bates was an avid football follower and a super fan of her grandson, Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs quarterback has been quite athletic since childhood and played several games in college. He was an avid basketball fan and a baseball star; however, it was tough for him to get into the pro football arena.

It was his mother who constantly motivated him to pursue the game seriously. And guess what? The rest is history!! ” It was hard for him that he didn’t get the role in football he wanted as a quarterback,” shared Randi Mahomes, per herlifemagazine.com.

“I never let him or his brother or sister quit anything, but we hadn’t signed up for the team, and he attended only a few practices. I couldn’t get him to all of the practices, and I told him he would have to quit, surprisingly, he said yes.”

“But it wasn’t because he wasn’t playing hard. It was because he wasn’t the coaches’ pick to be a quarterback.” she explained in the interview. As they say, the art of parenting never ends, and even today, Randi remains a pillar of support for the quarterback.
