“We Lost the OG”: Deion Sanders Laments Nick Saban’s Departure From College Football

Deion Sanders and Nick Saban have buried the hatchet for good. The renowned coaches now have nothing but respect for each other. Nick Saban, in his press conference on Wednesday, was asked about the rapid success of Colorado in Coach Prime’s regime and his response left Deion lovers extremely pleased.

Replying to the query, Saban couldn’t stop singing praises for Deion Sanders. It looks like both, Saban and Sanders, have finally put their differences aside. Coach Prime has been making all the headlines lately with his coaching acumen as his Colorado Buffaloes are off to an impressive 3-0 start this season.

All is Well Between Nick Saban and Coach Prime

Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban recently expressed his respect for Deion Sanders and his coaching acumen. In a press conference, Saban was questioned about the ongoing developments in Colorado’s football program. Replying to the question, Saban had nothing but high praise for Deion Sanders. He stated,

“I haven’t been able to see [Colorado play] a lot. I saw a little bit of the game last week against Colorado State, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders. First, he’s a great person and he’s done a great job of marketing the program to create a lot of national interest, but I see their team playing well on the field.”

Saban noted that the Buffaloes have shown competence on both, offense and defense. Saban’s recognition of Deion as a skilled coach doesn’t come as a surprise, given the evident success of the Colorado football program. However, this was not always the case. The comment from Alabama’s HC is a significant shift in the relationship between the two coaches.

Just a year ago, Sanders and Saban were embroiled in a public dispute. Coach Prime was accusing Saban of dishonesty regarding recruiting practices. Deion Sanders called him out for trying to pay Travis Hunter a million dollars to lure him from Jackson State. However, the dispute appears to have worn out now, as the two coaches then came together for an Aflac commercial.

Deion Sanders Wants to Learn from Alabama HC

During a recent interview with 60 Minutes‘, Sanders expressed immense respect for legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban. One can say that Sanders had strong and daring responses to most of the queries during the interview. However, he was notably humble while speaking about Saban. Sanders said,

“I love and I adore and I respect and every time I do a commercial with Coach Saban, it’s a gift. Sitting in his presence and hearing him and throwing something else out there so I can hear his viewpoint on it because he’s forgotten more things than I may ever accomplish.

Coach Prime further described the experience of being in the presence of Nick Saban. He stated that he focuses on listening to Saban’s insights, to quickly absorb as much knowledge as possible. Sanders said, “So I’m a student looking up to this wonderful teacher saying, ‘Just throw me a crumb of what you know.’

The responses by Colorado Buffaloes’ HC on the queries regarding Nick suggests that they have moved on from their earlier disagreements which is an extremely positive sign for football fans worldwide.
