Russell Wilson’s $12,000 Worth Amazon Stock Gift to His Linemen Earned Him the “Guardian Angel” Title

Wilson spent an entire decade inside the Seahawks locker room and carved some of the most glorious seasons in franchise history. He led the team to a championship title and earned Pro Bowl selections nine times in his career. Although he has made a transition to Denver, his legacy in Seattle remains unfazed.

Russell Wilson blessed each O-lineman with $12,000 on a special occasion

The significance of linemen in an offensive unit is quite important because these 350-pound men are responsible for safeguarding the quarterback and helping him stay in the pocket. It enables the passer to launch deep throws and fearlessly perform at a safe distance from the opposition’s defensive unit.

Hence, a signal-caller’s success in this league is dependent upon the robustness of these linemen. Wilson, who understands this job really well, decided to bless his teammates with an unexpected gift.

The incident happened in 2019, when the quarterback was in the wake of signing an extension, making him the highest-paid athlete in the league. He wanted to make it beautiful, and hence recalled the relentless efforts put forward by his linemen. As a result, Wilson purchased Amazon.com stocks worth $12,000 for each of his protectors. For all 12 linemen, he spent nearly $156,000.

“Every Sunday we go to battle together,” Wilson wrote in a letter to his teammates. “… You sacrifice your physical and mental well-being to protect me, which in turn allows me to provide and care for my family. … This does not go unnoticed, and it is never forgotten,” he added, per the Seattle Times.

Wilson displayed a similar attitude in Denver

Last year, the former Super Bowl champion committed to playing for the Broncos after bagging a five-year, $245 million contract. Even before, he stepped foot on the gridiron, the veteran decided to fulfill his moral obligations by visiting a children’s hospital in Colorado. In fact, it was a day earlier that he made his official announcement for a Broncos gig, something that gained widespread recognition.

He was accompanied by his wife, Ciara Wilson, who spent some quality time with specially-abled children. Kids were thrilled to see their new quarterback, and likewise, Wilson showcased his humbleness by playing with them and discussing the game of football. Regardless of his performance on the field, Wilson has always been a guardian angel for his people.
