JJ Watt

JJ Watt and the Texans parted ways in an unsurprising move. However, Watt was quick to thank the city of Houston for his time there.

Watt was drafted in 2011, and he quickly became the best player on the Texans defense. However, it didn’t end there as Watt became the face of the Texans franchise. At the end of it all, he had nothing but love and respect for the Texans and Houston.

Why Didn’t The Texans Trade JJ Watt? Was a JJ Watt Trade On the Table?

Watt has built himself quite the reputation in Houston. In his career, Watt has won three Defensive Player of the Year trophies, been a five-time First Team All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler, and a two time sack leader.

In 2012, Watt was genuinely in the MVP conversation. From sacks to swats to even scoring touchdowns on offense, Watt has legitimately done it all for the Houston franchise.

That’s why the Texans simply couldn’t trade him. While they may have gotten a decent player in return or a draft pick which they so desperately need, but ultimately they couldn’t trade their franchise star away.

Watt was also the captain of the Texans squad, a nod to his commitment to the team year in and year out. Just this year, Watt spoke out on the struggling Houston team in the best manner possible.

Watt is a HWouston legend, but finally, he’ll get a chance to pick his team and get a fresh start. The Texans are in the midst of serious turmoil as the Deshaun Watson situation is still yet to be resolved, and frankly it’s understandable that Watt doesn’t want to deal with all that anymore.

Houston will certainly miss him.

Where Could Watt Head To Next? Could the Green Bay Packers Be His Next NFL Team?

Watt will certainly look to join a winning squad. The only reason he left Houston was because the franchise is rebuilding, and at this point in his career, Watt isn’t looking for another change of personnel. He simply wants to win.

There’s a lot of traction that the New England Patriots will end up with Watt, but New England doesn’t seem to be a viable contender as of right now.

However, a likely destination could be the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are just coming off an NFC Conference Championship appearance, and with Rodgers at the helm, they’re going to be a contender no matter what.

Watt would also go back to Wisconsin where he played College Football, and he might be looking for a reunion with the place where he learnt how to be a star in football.

Another team could be the Pittsburgh Steelers as TJ Watt already seems to be recruiting his older brother:
