Trumping $300,000,000 Tom Brady, Ravens' Lamar Jackson, Launched his Flamboyant Apparel Brand Three Years Before TB12

Tom Brady is an absolute pioneer in the world of football. The one of a kind athlete, who started his stint way back in 2000, has also raked in the moolah by investing in several lucrative businesses. In fact, last year, he even started his own apparel line called ‘Brady Brand’ which further helped him in pushing his net worth beyond $300,000,000. However, when it comes to carving out a niche in the apparel market, Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has actually trumped Terrific Tom.

Realizing the astounding potential of the market, Lamar Jackson, who recently became the highest earning athlete upon signing a whopping $260 Million, 5-year extension deal with the Ravens, started his clothing line back in 2018. Called ‘Era 8 Apparel,’ the company is based in Florida and its name has been inspired by Jackson’s jersey number.

Lamar Jackson launched his apparel line even before making it big in the NFL

A lot of superstars, who did exceedingly well on the field, ended up going bankrupt due to poor financial sense. To avoid getting into such a situation, footballers now a days are starting early with their investments. One such star is Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, who rolled out his apparel line, the same year he started his NFL stint.

Back in 2018, Lamar had launched ‘Era 8 Apparel’ under which, T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, phone covers and hats were being sold through the official website. Moreover, what made Lamar’s brand instantly popular is the fact that the products were designed keeping durability and affordability in mind. The prices of the products ranged between $20-68 at the time of the launch. However, with more products being added to the website, the price range has now gone up.

To make things even better for the brand, Lamar went on to churn astounding numbers in his rookie season, and then took home the 2019 League MVP Award. In comparison to Jackson, NFL GOAT Tom Brady was a bit late in launching his apparel line. Last year in January, more than 3 years after Era 8 Apparel’s launch, TB12 rolled out ‘Brady Brand’ under which, hoodies, bomber jackets, polos and vests were put out in the market.

Today is officially the day after three years in the making. Brady brand is officially launched. Every item’s unique, it’s innovative, and it’s got great function and purpose,” Tom had claimed while announcing the arrival of his clothing line.

TB12’s “Brady Brand” was accused of being too pricey

While fans instantly fell in love with what their favorite QB had presented, many even lashed out at Brady for making his brand almost unaffordable for the common folks. To be fair, one can’t really blame the fans for the backlash as $250 for a vest can seem a bit too much to a large chunk of population.

Not only that, Tom also offers $295 bomber jackets, $95 hoodies, and even polos can cost you as much as $120. In Tom’s defense, he is trying to make a statement with his brand, like several other high-end athletes do. However, this is where Lamar Jackson has opted for a different strategy.

‘Era 8’ products are extremely affordable and with Jackson now becoming the highest paid NFL star(on average annual salary basis), his brand is expected to get a major upward push in the days to come.
