Upon Signing $36,200,000 Deal, Joe Burrow Was Hilariously Trolled by His Own Father; “Got Him Outta Our Basement”
Joe Burrow is one of the most promising young quarterbacks currently active in the competition. Known for exhibiting his ‘A-Game’ under immense pressure, Joe Cool came into the NFL with a huge reputation and hence, was given a $36,200,000, 4-year rookie contract by the Bengals. While everyone around Joe got emotional when he signed the mega deal, his superhero dad decided to take a hilarious dig at his QB son.
With their backs against the wall, the Bengals were looking to make major changes in 2020 and hence, they didn’t think twice before roping the Heisman winner QB into their squad as the first overall pick. While Joe’s dad Jimmy, who is a former NFL player himself, was extremely elated to see his son go so early in the draft, he wasn’t majorly surprised by his massive contact. Clearly because he knew his son’s potential from the get go.
Joe Burrow is still in his rookie contract.
Yet he’s making nearly $25million/year (and doing some big things off the field)

Joe Burrow’s coach dad hilariously mocked him after signing rookie deal
As reported by The Advocate, just the day after Joe signed his rookie contract, his father Jimmy went on to have a chat with WNXX-FM, 104.5’s Off the Bench, to express his views on the deal. That’s where he decided to lovingly mock his kid by saying, “We finally got him outta our basement.”
Post that, Jimmy admitted that he was a little nervous until all the formalities were carried out but now, he is relaxed and extremely happy for his kid. “Robin and I are happy. Joe’s happy. He’s just glad to get that part behind him. There was language that needed to be ironed out,” coach Jimmy had claimed while referring to the contract signing process.
“As a parent, you get a little nervous when it isn’t a done deal,” Jim had stated. Moreover, while touching upon how his son prepared at the time of pandemic, Jimmy claimed that Joe used to hone his skills “by throwing with his high school buddies at their old third and fourth-grade practice field.” Needless to say, that practice came in handy as Mr. Burrow hasn’t looked back after announcing himself on the big stage.
Joe Burrow would look to continue on his merry way in 2023 as well
While Mighty Joe’s progress was cut short by ACL and MCL injuries later in his rookie season, he ended up delivering big time in the next two years. Upon undergoing a knee surgery, Burrow came out all guns blazing in 2021 and eventually took his team to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988.
However, not many fans were convinced about Burrow repeating his 2021 heroics in 2022. Defying all odds, Burrow valiantly led his team to another AFC Championship clash, while bulldozing strong units like Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. While he couldn’t go past Mahomes’ Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, he sure did enough to hype up expectations from him and his team.
It will be interesting to see how Joe performs in the coming season.
