LeBron James, Tom Brady

LeBron James and Tom Brady have a lot in common. For one, both of them are good at winning. James knows this and appreciated Brady’s dominance at his age.

Both players are at an age where most people start to taper off and decline. However, that clearly isn’t the case for either of these legends. James is just coming off of an NBA Finals Win at 36 and Brady is set to start in his 10th Super Bowl at 43. “Like fine wine” as James once put it.

How Do LeBron James And Tom Brady Continue To Dominate?

The biggest reason James and Brady are playing so well into their careers is because of the effort they put into maintaining their fitness and keeping their bodies in prime physical condition.

The Lakers star is reported to spend around $1.5 million a year just to keep his body in pristine condition. The NBA that James plays in now is very different to what it used to be, and as a result, James knows that he has to keep up his physique to compete with the younger, more athletic players.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady focuses on sustaining his performance by sticking to a rigid diet. This diet is part of his TB12 Method, and for an average person, simply looking at the diet he follows would be a tough pill to swallow.

Brady prioritizes alkalizing foods, meant to keep down inflammation. This means that his diet consists of a lot of fish and vegetables. Brady’s personal chef revealed that about 80% of Brady’s diet is just vegetables in fact.

His diet is also very restricting. For example, white sugar, white flour, peppers, mushrooms, eggplants, tomatoes, and most fruits are out of the question. Brady’s longevity is one of the biggest upsides to his game, and really people still don’t know when he’s going to fall off. Peyton Manning had a horrific last year, but Brady only seems to be getting better.

At age 43, Brady put up numbers that he hasn’t put up in nearly in 5+ years. And, the biggest thing of all, HE’S BACK IN THE SUPER BOWL. Being the greatest player in the game certainly means winning and putting up monster stat lines, but it also means durability. Both James and Brady have proven to be extremely durable over the course of their careers, and that’s why they’re still nightmares for opposing teams.
