Stanislas Wawrinka came back from one-set down to beat Nick Kyrgios in the first round of Rogers Cup.

Ever since Nick Kyrgios rose to fame after defeating Rafa Nadal in the 4th round at Wimbledon 2014, he has managed to remain in the news for some reason or the other. In the ongoing Rogers Cup 2018, the Australian lost to Stanislas Wawrinka 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the first round.

The 16th seed who had to pull out of the Citi Open in Washington due to an injury, made a comeback at the Rogers Cup in Toronto. Kyrgios looked at the top of his game to attain a one set lead, displaying a wide variety of powerful groundstrokes.

However, in the second set, Kyrgios took a medical timeout to receive treatment for his sore hip. He failed to make an impact in the last two sets and many claimed it to be another incident of his ‘deliberate tanking’ during his matches.

The 23-year-old looked in no mood to give any answers to the reporters back in the post-match press conference. A series of rudely brief answers and occasional yawning summed up the entire press conference. Kyrgios seemed to be in a hurry to leave the conference and was uninterested to answer any questions for most part of the session.

Nick Kyrgios has often impressed everyone with his brilliant tennis skills but his regular on-court outbursts and tantrums off it are doing him more harm than good. The Australian must find a way to get back into his groove with the US Open less than a month away.
