Nico Rosberg explains how to overcome the Hamilton challenge
When you open the book titled ‘How to beat Lewis Hamilton at the sport of F1’, the first chapter in all probability would be authored by Nico Rosberg, who pulled off one of the greatest driver’s championship wins in 2016, having lost out on the title in 2014 and 2015.
Nico had then announced his shock retirement from the sport, leaving us bereft of another few seasons of viewing this feisty rivalry unfurl on the race track.
Rosberg has joined the Sky Sports team for this season and has given an insight about how the current set of drivers could beat Hamilton to the 2018 F1 Title.
“The weakness Lewis has is a bit of inconsistency. He has these periods when he is just not on it,” Rosberg said.
“If you are able to pounce in those periods and really make the most of it, you can keep him down for a while longer. You have to make the most of it, absolutely, and Sebastian did that pretty well last year.
“When Lewis has his good weekends he is almost unbeatable, he is unbelievably fast and maybe the best guy out there. The only way to beat Lewis is to be 100 percent with everything, do the perfect season. Otherwise there is no chance.”
Rosberg has pinned some of his hopes on Bottas, who he feels is now ready to take the battle to Hamilton, after seeming fairly solid during testing.
Do you feel any driver can catch up to Hamilton this time round?
