Liam Livingstone screams after getting hit in the abdomen: The Scorchers’ opening batsman experienced a painful stay in the middle.

During the 22nd match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers in Geelong, Perth Scorchers opening batsman Liam Livingstone was hit twice in the abdomen causing his significant pain.

It all happened first on the first delivery of the third over when Livingstone missed a slog off Renegades pacer Richard Gleeson and ended up getting hit. The batsmen responded by hitting Gleeson on the roof of the stadium in the same over.

Having hit a six and a four off Renegades pacer Will Sutherland in the fifth over, it was Livingstone’s turn to be at the receiving end of revenge as Sutherland hit him in the abdomen on the following deliveries.

“Ohhhh nooo,” Livingstone was heard screaming after getting on the second occasion. With the batsman falling down on his knees on both the occasions, a slight delay was experienced twice in the match.

Opening the batting with Josh Inglis (51) in a 176-run chase, Livingstone scored his 11th T20 half-century in a match-winning 102-run opening partnership. Having scored 59 (39) with the help of three fours and four sixes, Livingstone was the pick of the visiting batsmen.

It was Perth captain Mitchell Marsh who won the toss and invited the hosts in to bat early on. On the back of individual half-centuries from Simon Harper (73) and Beau Webster (59*), Melbourne scored 175/5 in 20 overs. Having registered bowling figures of 4-1-22-3, Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers for Scorchers.
