Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals man Utd’s Penalty taker amidst spot kick woes

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals man Utd’s Penalty taker amidst spot kick woes. The Red Devils have now missed two from the spot in two consecutive matches.

Manchester United could have been sitting comfortably by the end of the 3rd game week. Instead they find themselves on a downward spiral. Had Pogba and Rashford converted their spot kicks against Wolves and Eagles, they would have been sitting on top of the table. Or at least near it.

A lot of hue and cry was made over the decision of letting Pogba take the penalty last week. However, with Rashford missing one yesterday, a lot of fans are now wondering who will United fall on to shoulder this important responsibility.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked the same question yesterday after their dismal showing against Crystal Palace yesterday and the Norwegian has announced his designated spot kick taker.

“Fine margins,” he told MUTV when asked about the penalty.

“We’re disappointed but I’m sure Marcus will look at his penalty again but he’ll definitely step up again.”

Marcus Rashford was phenomenal against Chelsea. He scored a brace in their opener with one of the goals coming from a penalty. However, he was woeful in the match yesterday failing to find the net even once. He even went on to miss a penalty.

The miss was incredibly unfortunate though. It kissed the post and ricocheted away to safety. On any other day, with a little bit of luck, the ball would have slipped in. However, it is encouraging to see Solskjaer place his faith in a youngster who sorely needs it. It is up to Rashford now to step up to the plate and prove that his manager was right all along.
