Paine mocks Finch

Paine mocks Finch: The Australian captain was seen having an amusing chat with Australia’s opening batsman on the field.

During the third day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, Australia opening batsmen Aaron Finch was seen getting hit in the throat while he was fielding at short leg.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 34th over when India captain Virat Kohli hit a Nathan Lyon delivery towards the leg-side. After the ball hit the pitch, it bounced off to hit Finch in the throat.

While Finch was seen in some discomfort initially, the blow caused no major damage to him. Having said that, it saw him and Paine in an amusing chat which was heard on the stump mic.

Not many people might have heard the exact conversation, but it was journalist Daniel Brettig who spotted the entire conversation. Taking to his Twitter account, Brettig wrote, “Stump mic conversation after Aaron Finch hit in neck at short leg and delays next ball. Tim Paine: ‘Do you want a dart?’ Finch: ‘Nah haven’t had one in six months!’.”

It was Lyon who eventually got the massive wicket of Kohli (34), dismissing him in the fourth last over of the day. With Cheteshwar Pujara (40) and Ajinkya Rahane (1) in the middle, India ended the day with a lead of 166 runs. With seven wickets remaining, India would be looking to increase their lead.

Another 125-150 runs will make the favourites. If they manage to score more than that, it will be up to a sensible innings from any of their batsmen. On the other hand, Australia would be looking on the contrary for any target around 300 is highly likely of becoming impossible to chase for them.
