Veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s attempt of pulling the leg of wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel didn’t go as well as he would have expected as the latter also responded with a witty remark on social media platform Instagram.
It all started with Patel uploading his photo wearing the Gujarat jersey after returning from the tour of Australia. “Back to Gujarat for Ranji trophy knockouts…off to Wayanad (Kerala)…,” Patel’s caption read as he was on his way to play the quarter-final match of Ranji Trophy against Kerala.
Yuvraj Singh, who played only five league stage matches for Punjab in the ongoing tournament, was quick in his attempt of commenting on Parthiv Patel’s post. Tagging India and Gujarat all-rounder Axar Patel, Yuvraj highlighted Parthiv Patel’s alleged habit of appealing from behind the wickets even when the batsman has not edged the ball.
Rush Kalaria dismisses Sijomon Joseph, Basil Thampi and MD Nidheesh off successive balls to become the 2nd Gujarat player – and 82nd overall – to bag a hat-trick in #RanjiTrophy after Rakesh Dhruve (vs Vidarbha, Nagpur in 2013/14) #KERvGUJhttps://t.co/qM9kTb1F9A

Parthiv Patel, who came up with a swift and cheeky reply, said that he would have loved to do the same against Yuvraj. However, he then reminded him of the fact that Punjab failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the India’s most prestigious domestic tournament.
Axar Patel replying on his Gujarat captain’s comment also went down as a hilarious comment.
Gujarat’s quarter-final match against Kerala became the first knockout match to yield a clear result as it was over within two and a half days. With Kerala setting a 195-run target, Gujarat seemed to have an upper hand bu the third day’s morning saw them getting all out on 81 in 31.3 overs.
Lots of people watching from ground, great sight. Really happy to see the happy from fans. #KERvGUJ #RanjiTrophy

39 wickets have fallen in less than 180 overs. That is less than 2 days of play. Clearly a sub standard pitch made to favor home team with couple of bowlers with extra pace. #KERvGUJ #RanjiTrophy

Rahul Shah, who came in to bat at No. 3 for Gujarat, top-scored for his team scoring 33* (70) with the help of four fours. With bowling figures of 12-3-27-5, Kerala’s Basil Thampi registered his career-best figures in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance.
