Paul Pogba gives his verdict about the draw to Burnley

Paul Pogba gave a mature interview after the game against Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Manchester United have found themselves out of predicament situation with a 9-game unbeaten streak after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over. The Red Devils were easily running over opponents for fun over the last month with eight victories, maintaining a 100% record.

However, the winning streak was brought to an end by the relegation contenders Burnley who found themselves in a surprising situation for most parts of the game. The Clarets lead the game through Ashley Barnes when Andreas Pereira’s mistake leads to a goal six minutes into the second half.

The game was put beyond the sight by the striker Chris Wood when he headed the ball from close range with nine minutes from the full-time whistle. However, the Red Devils were not prepared to give up at any circumstances.

Jesse Lingard was brought down by Jeff Hendrick inside the penalty box in the 87th minute. The penalty was calmly placed in the top corner by the in-form Paul Pogba who did not look like missing the spot-kick.

The Red Devils kept on pressing till the end, and eventually found the equalizer when Tom Heaton’s save went straight into the feet of Victor Lindelof who had an easy job to tap the ball in despite Heaton’s commitment to get the most out of it.

Even though United rescued a draw out of nothing, Paul Pogba was not happy with the result. The French International insisted that he was happy with the desire to pull things back, but could have started the game on a positive note.

The Frenchman spoke in the post-match interview, “The comeback was positive but the result was disappointing. The reaction was good, we didn’t lose, but we dropped two points we could have won.

“We have to learn from our mistakes and next time start the game differently.

“Like the manager said, you have to start strong and aggressive because that’s what they were in the first half. We played like we were winning 1-0 or 2-0, that’s where we went wrong.”

It is among the many reasons why the Old Trafford faithful seem him as captain material. The French International has been handed over the captain’s armband on some occasions by the former manager Jose Mourinho earlier this season.

A narrow win to Arsenal means that the Red Devils are two points adrift of Unai Emery’s Gunners. Fourth Placed Chelsea will take on Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Manchester United travel to Leicester to take on Claude Puel’s side on Sunday in the next game week. The fight for the fourth spot could go down to the wire as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United battle out for Champions League football next term.
