Arsenal have made a shock move for Philippe Coutinho.
Arsenal have a shocking move for ex-Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian has endured tough spell at Barcelona, opening the door for a possible exit this summer.
The 27-year-old moved to Catalonia in January 2018, but has struggled for form under the management of Ernesto Valverde. The former Inter Milan midfielder has been touted to leave the club as return links for Neymar continue to intensify.
News broke about Coutinho’s alleged loan offer from an unknown Premier League club. It is believed to be Arsenal as per the surfacing reports.
According to Mirror, Arsenal’s negotiators will meet Barcelona’s officials in the upcoming days to discuss a possible one-year loan deal for Philippe Coutinho.
The Gunners will play Barcelona in Joan Samper Trophy at Nou Camp on Sunday, and discussions are expected to take part around that period. The Spanish giants are agreeing to send Coutinho on loan which could see Arsenal taking massive advantage in solving their crisis through the left-wing.
The Gunners’ head of football Raul Sanllehi is set to lead the talks to land the former Liverpool attacker. This move comes after the acquisition of Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli.
“We are looking for the possibility to improve, but only if we can take more steps in the squad.”
“Our target is to sign another player if he can really, really improve us. Our target is continuing to sign another player if we can.” Unai Emery says on their target to improve the squad before Premier League kicks off.
Here’s how Twitter has reacted..
Arsenal apparently trying to get Coutinho on loan. Strange rumour, the club officials are meeting at the Joan Gamper match this Sunday… Still, wouldn’t call it anything but meaningless buzz at the moment.
