Rahane rues the lack of batting partnerships against SRH

In the end it was quite a one-sided match, as Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a routine win over Rajasthan Royals tonight.

Rajasthan could only manage a meager 125 in the first innings, as the lack of partnerships in the middle order really cost Rahane’s team.

The new Rajasthan skipper also dropped Shikhar Dhawan early on, which ultimately proved to be very costly.

This is what Rahane had to say after the match,

“We thought 126 was on the lower side. When we were batting we thought 160 would be great. We did well as a bowling unit, but the Sunrisers were excellent with the bowling. Sanju and I tried to back our game but lost too many wickets in the middle, and that’s where we lost the game.

“I think the lack of one big partnership is what cost us. Even one partnership would have given us a more competitive total. I’m very unhappy with the dropped catch, but it’s a part and parcel of the game. It’s the first game, and we have to learn from our mistakes and not repeat them in future.”

Sanju Samson’s performance was very promising though, as he was pretty much the only positive for the Royals tonight. SRH though looked really strong, and made a wonderful start to IPL 2018.

Williamson started off really well as the new Sunrisers skipper, as the Kiwi led from the front both in the field as well as with the bat. Dhawan also looked in superb touch, as he will be crucial for SRH in this season.
