Jose Mourinho is set to sign a deal with Real Madrid for his second coming at the club as Florentino Perez eyes managerial change.
Real Madrid have had a hugely disappointing season so far. After a shaky start to the season, which saw the club parting ways with Julen Lopetegui last year, Real Madrid’s performances had just improved when their season was crushed to the ground over the last two weeks.
Barcelona knocked Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey in the semifinals, winning 3-0 at Santiago Bernabeu. In the same, Barca did a double on their arch-rivals, securing three points against Real and potentially ending their La Liga hopes.
Earlier this week, the side conceded a shocking 4-1 defeat to Ajax in the round-of-16, facing their first knock-out from the Champions League since May 2015.
Justifiably, there have been heavy speculations over the future of manager Santiago Solari, and reports suggest that Real Madrid’s fans might see a familiar face in the dugout again.
Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid:
According to Guardian, Jose Mourinho could be joining Real Madrid in the upcoming days.
The English media outlet quoted former Real Madrid’s president Ramon Calderon, who talked about the possibility of Mourinho’s arrival at Real Madrid in detail.
“I understand Mourinho will sign a deal for the remainder of this season and for another three years, with a net salary of £17m per year,” Calderon wrote for the ‘i’ newspaper.
“For the president [Florentino Pérez], Mourinho will be the perfect shield against the unhappiness in the media, the fans and the players. But it will not be easy and I predict it will be very difficult over the next three months.”
Jose Mourinho has earlier hinted at going back to Real Madrid, stating that the club was built on right values and structure.
However, his relationship with many players deteriorated in his final season at Santiago Bernabeu – inlcuding club’s captain, Sergio Ramos. Calderon, however, insisted that Sergio Ramos wants to end his season at Real Madrid.
These are interesting times at Real Madrid, as it was earlier reported that Sergio Ramos and Florentino Perez were also involved in a dressing room bust-up following the side’s defeat to Ajax.
