Rey Mysterio: WWE Superstar wants to be unmasked in the WWE | WWE Rumors

Rey Mysterio: WWE Superstar wants to be unmasked in the WWE. WWE may oblige to the request.

Rey Mysterio returned to the WWE last year at the Royal Rumble. He made a lot of sporadic appearances for them before joining the roster full time once again. At the moment though, the luchador is in a feud with the Submission Machine, Samoa Joe. The two had a very short match at Wrestlemania where Joe came out the Victor. Rey, though beat the mean Samoan by a roll up next Monday and eventually earned his rematch.

While both of them are champion wrestlers, this has been a rather lacklustre feud. It seems like WWE also realizes the lack of storytelling in this feud. Which is seemingly why they have decided to rehash a 14-year-old storyline. The Dominic’s custody on the line story that saw Eddie Gurrero and Rey Mysterio battle it out in a ladder match for Dominic’s custody.

Samoa Joe and Cesaro have alluded to the fact that Dominick looks like the United States Champion. So, this could probably just be you know, a homage to the Rey-Eddie feud.

However,

According to The Gorilla Position, this is leading to something much bigger. This is what was said on the Podcast:

“Apparently what Rey wants is to pass the mask on. And that’s what he said to WWE that he wants eventually for Dominick to wear the mask. He wants a match with Dominick where he loses and he passes the mask on.”

Yep you read that right. The masked hero of WWE wants to drop his mask on to his son for him to carry the legacy. It seems very probable actually. Rey’s Mask is a huge money maker for the company. The WWE would happily allow for the mask and its legacy to continue. This way they can still earn money from merchandise long after Rey retires.

Rey Mysterio will take on Samoa Joe for the United States Championship at Money in the Bank. Money in the Bank will  take place on May 19, 2019, at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. It will be the tenth event under the Money in the Bank chronology.

Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
