Rohit Sharma memes: Funniest Twitter reactions on Rohit Sharma's first century as opener vs South Africa

Rohit Sharma memes: Twitter witnessed numerous hilarious reactions as India’s newest opening batsman started on an affirmative note.

During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Visakhapatnam, India opening batsman Rohit Sharma scored his maiden century as an opening batsman to justify his promotion at the top of the order.

It was decided that Sharma would open the batting after Lokesh Rahul was dropped from the squad citing his poor form in Test matches. The move was also a way to accommodate Sharma in the Test XI which otherwise was seeming to be a daunting task.

Having scored his first boundary off Kagiso Rabada in only the second over of the Indian innings, Sharma was seen playing with caution especially when he was beaten by the likes of both Rabada and Vernon Philander.

Sharma’s strike rate was seen increasing when South Africa captain Faf du Plessis introduced the spinners into the attack. Not taking any unnecessary risk, Sharma managed to hit the visiting spinners down the ground on a continuous basis.

With India scoring 91/0 in the first session, Sharma had crossed the 50-run mark in the penultimate over of the first session. Sharma eventually reached his fourth Test century on the last delivery of the 54th over after running a single off Maharaj to reach the three-figure mark.

Bad light in association with incessant rain saw play getting called off just before tea on Day 1. At stumps, India had scored 202/0 in 59.1 overs. Sharma (115 not out) and his opening partner in Mayank Agarwal (84 not out) will be looking to post a formidable total tomorrow.
