RR vs DC Preview

RR vs DC Preview: The Sportsrush presents before you full preview of the 40th match of IPL 2019 between RR vs DC.

The Rajasthan Royals have a new skipper in Steven Smith and he decided to celebrate his first game as captain with a match-winning 59 against the strong Mumbai Indians. They need to continue the winning form just like Delhi Capitals who are also coming on the back of a great win against KXIP at the Kotla. DC would like to win this and almost secure their playoffs berth.

FORM GUIDE

Rajasthan Royals have won 2 of their last 3 matches and are finally looking like a team which could give any team a run for their money. The batting combination looks a bit settled now and the bowlers too are trying to step up and deliver. The appointment of the astute Steven Smith as captain might just be what the doctor ordered for the Royals.

The Delhi Capitals have also won 2 of their last 3 matches and have looked good in all the matches apart from a small hiccup against Mumbai. The Capitals need to continue their dominance with both bat and ball like they have been doing so brilliantly throughout the tournament.

EXPECTED TEAM CHANGES

Rajasthan Royals are coming off a great win and would not want to change too many things. However, they might consider dropping Ashton Turner who has been out for a golden duck in 2 consecutive matches and has looked pretty ordinary. Liam Livingstone, the English all-rounder would then replace him.

It seems unlikely that Delhi Capitals would tamper with the winning combination at all. With the pitch expected to be similar to the Kotla, DC would back their players and go in with an unchanged squad.

PITCH AND WEATHER PREDICTION

The Sawai Man Singh stadium has been playing a little slow this season. With an average score of just 159, it has played host to many low-scoring thrillers. The spinners are particularly useful here and have picked up 19 wickets at this venue in just 5 matches. DC would probably have the upper hand in the spin department.

The Pink City will witness a clear night with no chances of any rainfall. The temperatures might soar to 34* C but will come down as the game progresses. A clear day and a clear night implies that there will be an abundance of dew on the outfield which would hamper the team fielding second.

TOSS PREDICTION

The team winning the toss would look to bowl first in a bid to avoid the dew as far as possible. Also, chasing has been easier in this IPL than defending. These factors would play a role in the decision.
