Shubman Gill catch vs New Zealand: Gill grabs incredible diving catch to dismiss Ross Taylor off Md Shami in WTC Final 2021

Shubman Gill catch: The Indian opening batsman put on display a praiseworthy fielding effort to contribute to a wicket at the Ageas Bowl.

During the fifth day of the ongoing final match of ICC World Test Championship between India and New Zealand in Southampton, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami drew first blood after bowling exceptionally well for quite sometime since morning.

It was on the first delivery of the 64th over when veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor played an uppish drive which led to his dismissal. Taylor, who couldn’t get on top of Shami’s delivery, departed after scoring 11 (37).

As much as it was Shami’s wicket, it wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible catch from batsman Shubman Gill at cover. Moving towards his right, Gill timed his dive to perfection to complete the catch. The fact that he had very little time to react spoke highly about his effort.

Shami, who has by far been the best Indian bowler on show at the Ageas Bowl, deserved to pick a wicket to make inroads into the opposition’s batting lineup.

With New Zealand still around 100 runs behind India’s first-innings total of 217, India have a chance of bundling out the Kiwis. Having said that, it will require a monumental effort from their bowling attack.
