Although the Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in the world of sports, the owners of these sides have managed to remain largely unaffected by the pandemic. A recent research into the top 10 richest owners in world football have seen the Premier League once again rule supreme with three clubs from the land of the competition featuring in the pile.
City’s Owner Once Again Tops The List
Sheikh Mansour- Manchester City, Melbourne City, New York City
Mansour who is worth an estimated $30 billion has expanded his repertoire of clubs over the years. After seeing his investment in Manchester City thrive, the owner has gone onto rake in a sting of clubs under the brand.
Dietrich Mateschitz- RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls
Worth a reported $26.9 billion, the 76-year-old’s fortune comes from the energy drink that provides the name of his football clubs – with the notable exception of RasenBallsport Leipzig, the German side named after “lawn sports” to get past Bundesliga naming rules.
Andrea Agnelli- Juventus
The Juventus owner is worth $19.1 billion with the money coming from the family’s interest in Italian car brand Fiat.
Dietmar Hopp- Hoffenheim
Hoffenheim owner Hopp is a billionaire who made his fortune in the software industry. His $18.5 billion net worth makes him Germany’s eighth-richest.
Roman Abramovich- Chelsea
The Russian who is said to hold a behemoth wealth of $12.5 billion, walked through the doors at Stamford Bridge in 2003.
Phillip Anschutz- LA Galaxy
Anschutz, is reported to be worth more than $10 billion, has backed Chicago Fire, Houston Dynamos and the San Jose Earthquakes.
Stan Kroenke- Arsenal and Colorado Rapids
The 74-year-old, who is worth $8.3 billion, has a long-standing interest in sports that also includes NBA side Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and NFL side St Louis.
Nasser Al-Khaleifi- PSG
Worth $8 billion, PSG’s owner has ended up spending a colossal amount of that money to try and transform the French side into world beaters.
Zhang Jindong- Inter Milan, Jiangsu
Owner of Chinese electronics retail giant Suning, Zhang worth $8 billion took over Inter Milan.
Robert Kraft – New England Revolution
Worth $7 billion, Kraft owns the MLS side and NFL side the New England Patriots.
