The last time South Africa and India played an ODI was during India’s tour of South Africa last year. In what was a dead-rubber sixth and last match of the series at Centurion, it saw India defeating the hosts by 8 wickets to clinch the series 5-1.

After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and put the opposition in to bat, South Africa got bundled out for 204 in 46.5 overs. With bowling figures of 8.4-0-52-4, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for India.

In the second innings, captain Virat Kohli registered his 35th ODI century. It was a 126-run unbeaten partnership for the third wicket between Kohli (129) and Ajinkya Rahane (34) which saw India sealing the chase in the 33rd over.
