In what is a huge step forward for Women’s cricket in India, the Women’s T20 Challenge will get underway at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur tonight. The success of these matches might make a Women’s IPL a feasible idea from next season. In the first match, the Supernovas will be taking on the Trailblazers. PITCH REPORT
The Sawai Man Singh Stadium’s pitch has been a bit slow in the IPL and it may continue to play the same way. The ground here is big which means that the batsmen will have to put an extra effort to hit the ball out of the ground. Spinners should be effective here and may play a defining role. Any target around 150 should be a defendable one on this pitch.
WEATHER PREDICTION
It will be a 7:30pm start and the skies will remain clear throughout the match. No rainfall is expected. However, it will be pretty hot with temperatures soaring to 37°C when the match starts. On paper, the Trailblazers look a much more experience squad than the Supernovas. They have some solid batting options like Mandhana, Bates and Taylor and some very experienced bowlers like Jhulan Goswami. The Supernovas are a younger side with more energy and Harmanpreet Kaur will be crucial to their success. Young Rodrigues shall also be threatening. However, in the first match of the Women’sT20 challenge, the Trailblazers might get the better of the Supernovas simply because the experience in the Trailblazers camp might help handle the pressure of a big match like this in front of a huge crowd.
