The International 12 is returning to Seattle after a big break, and fans couldn’t be more excited for the Dota 2 extravaganza. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Dota 2 championship featuring the best teams from across the globe.

The International 12 is headed our way, and it has been one of the prime attractions for the Dota 2 community ever since the tournament’s first edition was held in Gamescom 2011. Over a decade later, Valve is all set to host the 12th iteration of the championship as it returns to Seattle after six long years.

Valve confirmed that TI12 would be played out over October, featuring the Road to The International, which starts with the group stages on October 14, 2023. However, the developer has confirmed that this edition of TI will feature only three days on the main stage for the audience, while the remainder of the tournament will be played behind closed doors.

Let’s dive in and check out everything there is to know about the upcoming Dota 2 championship.

The International 12: Schedule

The annual Dota 2 championship for 2023 is scheduled to begin on October 14, 2023, with the tournament’s group stages. Subsequently, they will be followed by the playoffs and the on-stage main event.

While the dates for the playoffs are yet to be confirmed by Valve, the developer has confirmed that the main event will be played out from October  27, 2023, to October 29, 2023.

The International 12: Venue

The International is returning to North America for the first time since 2018 and the USA for the first time since 2017. Fans in the region are incredibly hyped for the championship’s return to the area. However, given that North American organizations have failed to claim the tournament since 2015, it is highly expected that regional teams like Shopify Rebellion and Team SOLOMID will be mounting a challenge for the same.

Subsequently, the main event of TI12 will be held at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Additionally, tickets for the event are expected to go live closer to the tournament. However, we will have to wait for the official announcement from Valve regarding the same.

Dota 2 2023 Battle Pass

Like every other TI from the past, a Battle Pass is expected to be released before the event. Usually, this Battle Pass would be released during May. However, given that TI’s timeline has shifted from being hosted in August to October, the Battle Pass could also be delayed by a couple of months.

Nevertheless, it is inevitable that no matter when the Pass is released, it will significantly contribute to TI’s prize pool. After all, this crowd-funding from the annual Battle Pass has allowed Dota 2 to boast the five highest prize pools in esports history.
