Twitter furious with MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav as England beat India in 2019 Cricket World Cup

Twitter furious with MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav: Twitter failed to understand Indian batsmen’s approach in the slog overs.

During the 38th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and India at Edgbaston, England defeated India by 31 runs to register their fifth victory of the tournament. In what was a near must-win match for England, a victory means they can still easily qualify for the semi-finals.

Chasing a 338-run target, India got off to a mediocre start. A 138-run partnership for the second wicket between vice-captain Rohit Sharma (102) and captain Virat Kohli (66) brought India back into the contest but some smart bowling and exceptional fielding from English saw them defending the total.

As far as the Indian camp is concerned, last established duo of Mahendra Singh Dhoni (42) and Kedar Jadhav’s (12) lack of intent in the slog overs saw them alluring a lot of criticism and rightly so. Agreed that it wasn’t the easiest of target to chase but the duo could have easily put in a better effort against the hosts.

While India needed 71 runs in five overs, Dhoni and Jadhav scored 39 runs without taking much risk. Them not even attempting big shots didn’t go down well with the Indian fans and former cricketers. India eventually scored 306/5 in 50 overs.

After England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to bat, the hosts scored 337/7 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. Opening batsman Jonny Bairstow top-scored for his team scoring his eighth ODI century, 111 (109), with the help of 10 fours and six sixes. With bowling figures of 10-1-69-5, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami was the pick of their bowlers
