Twitter reactions on England defeating Australia in a one-sided contest to reach the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup finals to be played at Lord’s

It’s done and dusted. England annihilate the defending World Cup champions Australia by eight wickets at Edgbaston, Birmingham to march on towards their maiden World Cup title bid, all set to take place on July 14 at The Lord’s Cricket Ground. They will lock horns against New Zealand, who defeated India just the previous day by 18 runs at The Old Trafford.
With this result we will have a new World Cup winner who will be lifting their maiden World Cup title since the inception of the marquee tournament. England too reach a World Cup final after 27 years, as they last made it through in the 1992 edition.
Opting to bat first after winning the Toss, Aussie skipper Aaron Finch had the worst possible start to a World Cup semi-final match, with him being dismissed for a Golden Duck. In fact they lost their first three wickets at the score of 19 with only 6.1 overs bowled by the English pacers.
Valiant and gritty knocks by wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey (46 off 70) and Steve Smith (85 off 119) meant that the Aussies huffed and puffed to 223/10 in 49 overs. Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 8-0-23-3.
England openers blew the Aussies away
If Australia had even the slightest of chances to stop the strong English batting line-up, they needed the best bowler of the Tournament- Mitchell Starc to bring his best game out of the casket today. But, the English openers- Jonny Bairstow (34 off 43) and Jason Roy (85 off 65) made sure they manage to blow away the Aussie pace attack with consummate ease. They got themselves involved in yet another century opening stand of 124 runs in mere 17.2 overs.
England chased down the target in just 32.1 overs with eight wickets in the bank. Chris Woakes was adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’ for his fine spell of fast bowling, especially with the new ball.

England annihilated Australia.
Out-bowled them.
Out-batted them.
Out-fielded them.
Only thing the Aussies did better than us was win the toss.
Congrats @Eoin16 & his brilliant team. A stunning performance. #ENGvAUS 🏏👊💪👍 pic.twitter.com/tlMD41ekTx— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 11, 2019
