Twitter reactions on Yuvraj Singh's 13th IPL half-century

Twitter reactions on Yuvraj Singh’s 13th IPL half-century: Twitter was exhilarated as the veteran cricketer came back to form in style.

During the third match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at Mumbai, veteran Mumbai Indians all-rounder Yuvraj Singh scored his 13th IPL half-century. In what was a lone hand played by Yuvraj, he remained the only hope for Indians in their daunting chase.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the sixth over, Yuvraj took his time initially to get his eye in. In the phase where he was settling in, he was seen playing some shots which didn’t come out well from his bat. With an ever-soaring required run rate, the 38-year old cricketer had no option than to keep trying playing his shots.

On the penultimate delivery of the ninth over, Yuvraj scored his first boundary in the form of a cut off Capitals fast bowler Keemo Paul. Oozing on confidence, Yuvraj and Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard scored 20 runs off DC all-rounder Axar Patel’s over. The southpaw scoring a couple of fours and a six had gave Mumbai fans hopes of the match still being alive.

On the third ball of the next over, Yuvraj’s short-arm jab off Paul over mid-off had it in it to be his best shot of the night. It was at this point in time that MI lost Pollard (21) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (0) within a span of four balls.

Having lost momentum because of the fall of wickets, the next the southpaw hit a boundary was in the 16th over as he once targeted Patel for a couple of sixes. On the third delivery of the 18th over, Yuvraj hit an unconvincing boundary off Trent Boult to complete his half-century.

Before eventually getting out in the penultimate over, Yuvraj ended up scoring 53 (35) with the help of five fours and three sixes. There is no denying to the fact that luck was on Yuvraj’s side as a few of his mis-timed shots landed in no man’s area. Having said that, will he continue to pile on the runs for Indians will be only be known in the times to come.
