RCB came out to bat with a new batting combination of Parthiv Patel and Brendon McCullum. Quinton de Kock missed this match as he flew back to South Africa to attend a wedding. As a result, Parthiv Patel got his first game of IPL 2018.

After a scratchy start, Patel slowly came into his own taking on the opposition bowlers. He lofted the ball over the infield in his characteristic manner and scored some quick runs.
Meanwhile, Brendon McCullum lost his wicket to pacer Lungi Ngidi. He failed to pick a slower ball from Lungi Ngidi and the ball went up straight in the air.
However, RCB fans could not believe their eyes when they saw their beloved stars Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers throwing their wicket away. While Kohli failed to pick a straight ball from Jadeja and got clean bowled, ABD in an attempt to play a reverse sweep off Harbhajan Singh was stumped by MS Dhoni.
This triggered a batting collapse. It was only due to the efforts of Tim Southee that took the score to 127 for 9.
CSK looked all set to chase down the total with Rayudu and Raina stitching a good partnership. However successive wickets of Rayudu, Raina and Shorey made things difficult for CSK.
All the same, it was vintage MS Dhoni who took control of the game and finished it off with a few towering sixes of Yuzi Cahhal at the end.
Twitter went crazy as MS Dhoni repeated his heroics yet again.
Does anyone else think Dhoni merely indulges bowlers sometimes and then says, “okay that’s enough”!

Chahal prefers the Dhoni that talks to him from behind the stumps, not this one that keeps clobbering him for six #CSKvRCB

16 balls 14 runs needed. Dhoni, a veteran, hits the most promising new young bowler of the Indian team for a six, over the head of the current Indian captain, scampering to catch the ball, failing. What a metaphorical shot. #CSKvsRCB
