Conor McGregor, the Irish UFC superstar, has competed in three divisions featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight. In fact, he was a champion in two divisions including lightweight and featherweight. ‘The Notorious’ seemed to have mastered the art of weight cutting, which is said to be the hardest part of the sport.
Many fighters including McGregor’s rival Khabib Nurmagomedov have struggled while cutting weight before fights. Meanwhile, the Irishman never missed or struggle with making weight for his fights. Thus, many fans have seen a similarity between him and the main character from the movie ‘The Machinist’ played by Christian Bale.
Fans react to old pictures of Conor McGregor at 145
McGregor made his UFC debut in 2013 in the featherweight division, where he quickly dominated and rose to higher ranks. In a short span, ‘The Notorious was defeating some of the top-tier fighters in the category.

Recently a user on Twitter posted a collage of McGregor’s pictures from the time he was competing in the 145lbs category. In the pictures, McGregor looks very skinny compared to his current weight, which is over 265 lbs, per the UFC superstar.

Looking at the pictures fans were quick to draw parallels between McGregor and Christian Bale. In the movie ‘The Machinist’ Bale went through a difficult weight cut to fit the character. He looked unusually skinny in the film. Thus, fans compared both.

Conor McGregor’s UFC return
It is easy to say that McGregor is currently facing a rough phase in his career given his losing skid and the leg injury suffered in 2021. However, ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t stopped yet. He recovered from the injury and has repeatedly told that he will come back stronger.
McGregor’s fans will surely love to see him back to his winning ways. However, the Irish star hasn’t announced a return date or opponent. Previously there were rumors that UFC is working to make a fight between McGregor and Michael Chandler. But it seems like the fight is only on the papers now.
