$10,000,000 for 5″: Ex-UFC Champ Vows to Finish Khamzat Chimaev Under 4 Rounds

Over the years, there have been several rivalries in the UFC. Some have materialized into a fight. However, there are a few who have never seen the light of the octagon and always remained in the talks. One such less-talked-about rivalry is between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman. When ‘The Nigerian’ Nightmare’ was a champion, Chimaev called him out many times. However, with Usman’s dethronement by Edwards and Chimaev’s move to middleweight, ‘Borz’ has altered his focus. Nonetheless, the rivalry appears to be never-ending, with Usman recently promising to finish Chimaev on Instagram for a whopping $10M.

‘Borz’ since his debut in UFC has been wanting the gold strap. Although he was close to his goal, he missed weight before a crucial fight last year. Following that, ‘The Lone Wolf’ decided to move up and entered the middleweight waters. However, Usman has not lost hope for this spectacle.

Kamaru Usman vows to finish Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev was recently featured in an exciting challenge posted by ESPN MMA and Sports Center. Their post asked supporters how long they would endure against Chimaev in a five-round fight for $10 million.

“$10M for 5 rounds with Khamzat. How long will you last?” they wrote in the post. While many people in the comments section said it was difficult, Kamaru Usman disagreed.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ stated that he would easily finish Chimaev under four rounds in a welterweight scuffle. In the comments section, Usman wrote:

“At 77kg… Finish him in the 4th.”

While it appears to be an intriguing match-up, it is very unlikely to happen. Both fighters have changed their courses and are now focused on achieving UFC gold in separate divisions.

Chimaev and Usman’s current state in UFC

The former welterweight champion Usman is currently going through a rough patch in his career. He lost his belt to Leon Edwards at UFC 278 last year. Unfortunately, he failed in another attempt to regain the belt UFC 286 this year.

Usman is now looking to map his way back to the UFC gold and is in talks for a fight with the number three contender Belal Muhammad. However, this bout is yet to be finalized.

On the other hand, Khamzat Chimaev is doing well so far on his UFC journey. He is undefeated but has turned back to the middleweight division.

Chimaev is set to fight former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa next month at UFC 294 in UAE. Given his unblemished record, ‘Borz’ might receive a title shot soon if he defeats Costa. However, it still remains to be seen as of now.
