After a series of call-outs to various individuals, Jake Paul has finally zeroed down on his next opponent. While the speculations were rife about a potential boxing bout between Paul and Conor McGregor’s camp member Dillon Danis, it turns out on April 17, the popular YouTuber will face former UFC fighter Ben Asken.

Jake Paul stepped inside the professional boxing scene in 2019, and since then he has competed twice in the 4-sided ring, garnering victories on both occasions. The internet personality recently made rounds by being the co-main event participant of Mike Tyson Vs. Roy Jones Jr. Pay-Per-View, where, he comprehensively knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson. Ever since then The 23-year-old was on the lookout for his next opponent and finally, his search ended with Ben Askren.

Askren, who carries an extraordinary MMA record, will make his Boxing debut against Jake Paul. According to reports, the fight will embed a total of 8 rounds of 3 minutes each.

Ben Askren UFC Record

Ben Askren holds more than 12 years of experience in combat sports. He is a former Bellator and One Championship Welterweight champion and thus has an exceptional MMA record to showcase.

Funky entered the UFC circuit in 2019 with an undisputed record of 19-0. He made his UFC debut at UFC 235 and lived up to the expectations by successfully defeating Robby Lawler. He then suffered a huge setback at UFC 239, as his bout against Jorge Masvidal ended after 5 seconds, where he became the subject of the sport’s fastest knockout.

Seeking a comeback, Askren competed again in 2019, and much to his disappointment the fighter lost again, this time via submission to Damian Maia.

In November 2019, Ben Askren announced his retirement from MMA.

While Ben Askren has substantial fight experience but, on April 17, Jake Paul will enter as the favorite since he will be up against a boxing debutant. This will be Askren’s first boxing stint so, despite being a well-renowned MMA professional, Askren is yet to convince the world with his boxing skills.

However, with 6 KO and 7 decision victories in his MMA career, the fighter is an efficient striker.

Even though Boxing is one of the attributes of MMA fighters, but it is a different light altogether, which probably is the reason why oddsmakers have given Jake Paul the favorite’s tag in the fight.
