Dana White Reveals How Much Money UFC Have Spent On Covid-19 Testing

Dana White reveals UFC spent a huge amount of money on Covid-19 testing. Says, UFC athletes’ positivity rate is less in comparison to NBA athletes’.

It has become ad nauseam that Covid-19 impacted the entire sports industry in 2020. Considering the ruckus the global pandemic caused initially, the reality seemed daunting. Thus, only a few would have guessed 6-7 months ago that in December every sport would be back on its feet. But since the gloomy clouds have disappeared and every major sport is again thriving, it needs to be understood in tandem that it is all a result of appropriate measures.

When it comes to appropriate measures, it is UFC that pioneered the resurrection process and somewhat displayed what aspects should be given due consideration to cope with the long-term predicament. However, the persistence the MMA promotion showed came at a cost.

Dana White Reveals How Much Money UFC Have Spent On Covid-19 Testing

Recently in an interview with TSN, Dana White disclosed some statistics and its elements that emerged alongside Covid-19. And in-process revealed how apt the company is financially to encounter the virus.

The UFC President stated that till now the organization has conducted 26,300 tests and a total of 17 million dollars have been spent on the large testing. Moreover, according to White, “1470 UFC athletes, cornermen,  staff were transported.” which amassed- 1700 commercial flights, 3400 charter flights.

“Everybody keeps talking about how difficult it is for some of these other sports because of teams and stuff. We had 164 athletes from 40 different countries that competed this year.”

Dana White continued and also drew a comparison with the NBA in terms of Covid-19 positivity rate. “They were talking about how great it was that the NBA players had an 8 percent, 8.8 percent positivity rate. Ours was 0.8 percent.”

So, while pandemic has sown new seeds of competition among the globally renowned sports establishments, for enthusiasts the desire would remain the same i.e., no matter what happens action should never cease.
