UFC 257 Main Card Opener Marina Rodriguez Vs. Amanda Ribas became a subject of controversy, as the fight’s referee Herb Dean apparently made a judgment error.

The main card of UFC kicked off with Marina Rodriguez Vs. Amanda Ribas. Considering the Strawweight title scene, the matchup was a big one, as the No.10 of the division was up against the No.6th.

Coming into the match, Ribas was the betting favorite but, could not make the most of the psychological advantage as in the second round Rodriguez landed a heavy right to mark the end of the match.

With a telling blow, Rodriguez gained the momentum, and at 0:054 point of Round-2 referee stopped the match to give a TKO victory to Rodriguez.

While it was a clean victory but a supposed controversy did apparently overshadow the ultimate result.

Did Herb Dean Make a Judgment Error?

After landing significant strikes in Round-1, Marina Rodriguez carried the momentum, and via a powerful knock shook Ribas. Following the whack, Rodriguez was all over her Brazilian peer and at that point, it seemed the end was near. Referee Herb, Dean came close to get a better view but, was ostensibly in two minds whether to stop the match or not.

Rodriguez thought she’d won when Dean seemingly came close to separate the two opponents, however, did not signal the stoppage. So, the fight continued and Ribas was back on her feet.

Though seconds later Rogriguez made another heavy contact, and this time Herb Dean did not take much time to terminate the fight.

While no repercussions were recorded from the brief episode but, was it a judgment error on Herb Dean’s part or not is the question that MMA enthusiasts are asking.
